My Philosophy
Always be the best that you can be and there is no such thing as “luck” in being successful! Luck happens when preparedness meets opportunity. Many years of being in different aspects of customer service have formed my philosophy: “If you make the customer your #1 priority, you will be successful.” This will drive your desire to develop a multi-step process which includes: Being knowledgeable of the product; presenting the product well; follow through the details post contract and maybe more important that anything – genuinely care about your customers and have their best interest at heart!
Education
Being born in rural Mississippi as "#7" in a family of 11, my education began at an early age. Watching my parents eke out a living as a sharecrop farmer and trying to generate enough income to support our large family was my first experience in learning that hard work and responsibility builds strong character. There was always plenty of food – especially food for the soul – which included attending church every time the doors opened at a church up the road and where my relatives were at least half of the congregation! This experience built the integrity that I learned is so vitally important to be best that you can be! At the age of 17, I moved to Jackson, MS to attend Draughon’s Business College where I graduated with an Associate Degree in Business.
Experience
Diversification is the word that describes
my work experience. My very first job while
in college was as a ticket sales girl that worked
in a “booth” on the street selling movie
tickets. (Remember when it was done that way).
This is where I was when I heard about JFK's assassination
and the emotions I felt will never be forgotten.
After graduation my timing was perfect in being
chosen as an Assistant to a person in a high ranking
position in the NASA facility in Bay St. Louis,
MS where I earned more money per week than my parent
earned in a month!! This is where I
met my future husband and was coerced into moving
to St. Louis which seems so far away to me!
However, he was successful in convincing my Dad
to let me go and there my first job was with McDonald
Douglas Corporation. After 4 years it was
time to be a Mom and I had two beautiful daughters
to teach all the lessons that I learned as a child.
Using my Mom as an example made it an easy assignment
because she was the best momma in the world!
When the children were school age, my husband and
I began several entrepreneurial business and were
very successful. During the pre-school years
of the children I was fortunate to travel to many
parts of the world including Europe, Mexico, the
Caribbean, Australia, Canada and most states of
this great country! Some of my diversified experiences
include working in a mortgage department at a bank
in North Carolina prior to moving to the sugary
white beaches of Florida. Being the owner/operator
of a small hotel in Lake Lure, NC also gave valuable
insight to the guest industry.
Other Information and Interests
Things I enjoy are as diversified as my work experience. They encompass doing almost anything in Gods’ awesome outdoors; i.e., rowing a boat (canoe) gently down the stream (Econfina) on a hot summer day with Star, my black lab, to reading any type of self-improvement books on a wet and cold wintry day. It is one of my priorities to continue my own personal growth in my quest to “be the best that I can be”. This has become the latest focus for the life. This includes among many things being the best “grandma” to my two wonderful grandchildren that are the joy of my life; the best wife to my awesome husband; always be the Mom who is there anytime for my daughter, Christy, and last but not least fulfill my purpose in being a child of the King!
