Peanut Growers To Meet In Panama City Beach

By troysteuwer | July 8, 2008

The 10th annual Southern Peanut Growers Conference (SPGC) has been scheduled to begin July 13th through the 15th at Edgewater Beach Resort. Consisting of various associations from Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida, the Southern Peanut Farmers Federation offers its farmers the opportunity to learn more about the latest research, promotions and laws.

Some of the sessions include Peanut & Politics, Effective Legislative Involvement, The Conservation Stewardship Program, Markets & Market Implications and more.

As the summer season begins, the various farmers should enjoy their stay at Edgewater Beach Resort. The weather is beautiful, the water is warm and a host of activities are kicking off in and around the resort. We’re sure the SPGC heard out about Edgewater through Meetings & Conventions Magazine. And since Edgewater was awarded the Golden Tee Award, we’re sure more conventions will be scheduled to meet at the areas number one convention facility.

Lifeguards To Keep The Beach Safe

By troysteuwer | July 2, 2008

Following the unfortunate tragedy of a couple of visitors to Panama City Beach over Memorial Day weekend, the city council has decided to adopt a trend growing in the northwest region of Florida, and that’s lifeguards. A budget has already been approved and local officials are in the process of hiring the staff to man the stations.

The News Herald reports that there may eventually be stations in front of Pier Park, M.B. Miller county pier and on the beach next to Alf Colman Road. They are also exploring the possibility of lifeguard training for the Beach Patrol, as well as lifeguard training for beach vendors.

You can read more information at The News Herald’s website.

Southern Living Loves Panama City Beach

By joaniemiller | June 17, 2008

[Southern Living Magazine]

Southern Livings Annette Thompson wrote a lovely article on Panama City Beach and it seems she can’t get enough of it. Here are some of excerpts from her article:

Quote from Southern Living MagazineIt’s time to return to Panama City Beach. If your memories revolve around crowded T-shirt shacks and gritty mom-and-pop motels, you’re in for a big surprise. This vacation magnet (your grandparents may have met here!) now sports a fresh style. It’s nudged the beach bum culture aside for upscale hotels and condos, good restaurants, a fabulous new shopping district, and sparkling high-rises.

Weird Homes I’d Love To Visit

By troysteuwer | June 16, 2008

I received an e-mail this morning, of course regarding homes, and I thought some of them were absolutely astounding. Yeah, I imagine some of them may be fake (especially the one that looks like a boulder in between two mountains), but I’m positive many of them are real. Could you imagine living in one of these. How awesome would that be? I for one would enjoy living in the first one. Imagine crossing over cliffs on a gondola to get to your home. I guess that’s one way to keep some of the relatives away!
