A Changing Season
By Joanie Miller | October 24, 2008
As winter creeps in, I get many calls wondering “is there any activity in the Panama City real estate market?” Of course there is, and I want to thank everyone for their support in our company.
But, during this time of year, things do wind down. It’s funny, because every year my past and future customers call me at almost the same time and ask “is it a good time to sell?” Well, anytime is a good time if you have to sell. But, the fall and summer seasons tend to bring less than average market activity due to many things.
Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas is probably the most prominent of all. Getting ready for family trips, or even having the guest stay at your home can be very time consuming. Right now, most aren’t even thinking about buying, let alone anything else. But don’t let that trick you, there are still buyers out there. Especially if there’s a good deal.
The second reason why I think this time of year is slower than usual is because the days are shorter. Buyers like to look at real estate when they get off work, and at this time, it gets dark early. Believe me, it’s not fun trying to look for property at night. “Did I miss that sign?” “Am I even close to that area?” Many others come to mind.
So if you have to sell, don’t fret. Just take a deep breath and know that the market is starting to wind down. There are still buyers out there, so make sure your property is in top condition, especially on the weekend.
For all of you getting ready for the holiday season, I wish you happiness and prosperity. Remember, life’s too short. Live it up!
