New Construction at Emerald Beach Resort
By Joanie Miller | September 8, 2008
The Panama City Beach skyline has changed since 2005 when it used to be full of cranes, concrete and workers. Today, the most you’ll see are maintenance crews working on-site to keeping the units in top condition for tourists and guest to the area. But, it looks as though this may change for a small portion of Front Beach Road. The News Herald reported that a new 235 unit Emerald Beach Resort tower has started construction.
Unfortunately it looks as though this tower won’t be purchased by individual property owners or investors. Wyndham, the nations largest vacation ownership business, has over 6,500 hotels, 145 resorts and an estimated 200,000 units. The South Dakota based company acquired 200 units between September 2007 through the beginning of this year; pretty much buying out the whole second tower. Many are suggesting that this new third tower will also be bought out by Wyndham — but these are only rumors as of now.
The third tower is expected to be completed by February 2010. There is also a fourth tower that is to be built at Emerald Beach Resort, but no completion date is expected for quite some time.
Emerald Beach Resort hosts an array of extravagant and utterly relaxing amenities including a 10,000 sq. ft. day spa and fitness center, 24 hour room service, 32,000 sq. ft. convention center, retail shops and many more. It also has one of Florida’s largest sky bridge connecting the towers to the multi-level garage on the north side of Front Beach Road.
Today, there are 30 active condos for sale in Emerald Beach Resort. Since January 1st of this year, eight units have sold, ranging in price from $200,000 for a 792 sq. ft. one bedroom unit to $750,000 for a large three bedroom penthouse.
