Construction Begins On New Eastbound Lane at GCCC
By Troy Steuwer | September 4, 2008
Since funding is currently unavailable for the flyover at Gulf Coast Community College, the D.O.T. has decided to begin construction on an additional eastbound lane to aid drivers on the east side of the Hathaway Bridge and in front of Port Panama City.
Tommie Speights, a spokesman for the Florida D.O.T said, “What our secretary has decided to do now is construct that additional lane, and once the funding becomes available for the flyover and the additional elevated roadway eastbound then things will change. But right now, we’re going ahead and adding that additional lane to improve congestion in the area.”
Although the flyover’s taking a break, we hope this additional lane eases the pain for commuters until then.
