New 4 Acre Park To Be Developed in Panama City

By Troy Steuwer | August 27, 2008

New Park Coming to Massalina Bayou in Bay CountyAccording to The News Herald, the city of Panama City will be closing on a $2.5 million parcel of land this Friday that is currently owned by TECO gas. The four acre parce, located along Massalina Bayou in Panama City, will be converted in to a walking park. At the moment, Southern Earth Sciences Inc. has found traces of arsenic, silver and mercury, among other things; but, the Panama City commissioners have agreed to purchase the property as long as TECO Gas removes a 50 foot circumference and 5 foot deep part of the land and replace it with normal soil.

The Panama City Mayor thinks this is a great addition. He also stated that he would let his children play in the park and even he would roll around in it. Hopefully after the arsenic and whatnot have been removed. ;)

This is great news for Panama City as I really enjoy parks. In fact, would really love to see a larger park in the future. You know, somewhere in the range of 10+ acres filled with large pines, oaks and even a few flowering trees. I know we have the St. Andrews Park, but I would like to see a rural one. Better yet, lets just make a new New York Central Park right in the middle of PCB! :)

Nice looking park. I hope the market is picking up down there for you. Still sluggish here in Myrtle Beach.

Tammy, that’s not the actual picture of the park. :) It was a picture I took a couple of years back. But hopefully it will be just as beautiful!
