Economy Boost From USFA Tournament

By Joanie Miller | July 21, 2008

Frank Brown Park, Panama City Beach, FLFrank Brown Park, Panama City Beach, FLIf you’re a condo owner, you’ve probably noticed that your unit was rented last week. But as many of you may not know we had a large group of about 40,000 people come to Panama City Beach for an annual USFA softball tournament.

WJHG News Channel 7 reports that 400 teams came in to town last week and boosted the economy with $9 million dollars. Out of the 400 teams, only about 10-20 of them were local. It was fantastic. Not only did the area receive the needed boost, but the people that where here were absolutely wonderful.

I had the chance to rent my condo to one family who came down from Georgia. They had two daughters that were playing at Frank Brown Park off of Panama City Beach Parkway. They couldn’t believe how much Panama City Beach has changed for the better. The two girls were very excited to begin the tournament and had trained nonstop for the past four months.

I hope they all had a great time competing in the tournament and I look forward to seeing them again next year.
