Celebrating the Fair Housing Act

By joaniemiller | April 17, 2008

This month, along with all of our buyers and sellers, we are celebrating the 40th birthday of the Fair Housing act. As a part of Miller & Associates Realty, everyone in our office embraces our country’s diversity and continues to support the benefits of home ownership to all.

After four decades, the Fair Housing Act has touched the lives of many individuals in the United States. During its entire existence, the act has prohibited discrimination against race, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status and disability in the ability of obtaining housing.

ยป OPENING DOORS SINCE 1968

The Fair Housing Act was created in 1968. However, at the beginning, it only prohibited discrimination against race, color, religion and national origin. After 1974, sex was added and then in 1988, disability and familial status where included.

We invite everyone to join us in celebrating one of the greatest accomplishments in real estate history. If you believe you are a victim of illegal housing practice, we encourage you to file a complaint with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As your top Panama City and Panama City Beach, Florida real estate agents, we pledge to conduct business under our strict Code of Ethics as outlined by the National Association of REALTORS. This includes the Fair Housing Act!

From everyone at Miller & Associates Realty, we hope you have a great Friday and an even better weekend!
