Bay County International Airport News and Pictures

What an exciting and historic time for Bay County and Panama City! This month we had a ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Panama City Bay County International Airport. It is the first airport in the United States to be built since 9/11 and is designed to be the first “Green” Airport as well. The surrounding land will be dedicated to wildlife preservation and an Audubon Nature Society.
Over a thousand people attended this momentous event. This was a surprise to event organizers who originally expected about 100 people. I for one was happy to be in attendance with my Miller & Associates teammates to welcome in this new economic growth and prosperity for Bay County.
Governor Charlie Crist was not able to attend but he sent a message via audio tape, which focused on the environmentally friendly aspects of Panama City’s new airport, including an Audubon Nature Center. “When considered as a whole, this is America’s first truly green airport,” said Crist.
This is a project has been debated for almost ten years. We can now celebrate progress as the construction process has officially begun.
