Swim and Get a Ticket

On August 19th, the Bay County Commission approved an ordinance, giving the Sheriff’s Office the ability to ticket and/or arrest anyone violating the double red flag warning in the unincorporated beaches of Bay County. This was passed 4-0 by the Commission in response to the many drownings this summer.
According to Sheriff Frank McKeithen, “It could be $10; it could be $500; it could be up to 60 days in jail.”
Now, I do think that a small fine would be sufficient, but 60 days in jail?

Seafood Wine and Music Festival Secures Blues Traveler

The Panama City Beach Seafood, Wine and Music Festival, previously known as the Indian Summer Festival, recently landed Blues Traveler as the headliner for the event at Frank Brown Park. The band will be jammin’ out on Saturday, October 11th!

I Scream, You Scream

We all scream for ice cream!
Baskin-Robbins, an international ice cream chain and America’s #1 ice cream store, recently announced its plans to move into the Panama City area. According to James Franks, Baskin-Robbin’s national director of franchising, “Baskin-Robbins expects to open at least three stores over the next couple of years in Panama City.” James indicated one of the main reasons for moving to our area was due in part to the population growth.
So are you looking to own your own business? Well, the company’s franchising manager will be doing one-on-one meetings in our area. In addition, they will be holding a fanchise seminar in Pensacola, FL next Tuesday and another on Thursday in Jacksonville, FL.
Personally, I can’t wait for the first store to open. After moving from California to Florida back in 1996, I’ve been craving “31 flavors” for far to long!

Emerald Coast Cruizin’ Car Show in Panama City Beach

Hey Boardwalk owners! Have you checked out the new Island Breeze Corner Market at Boardwalk Beach Resort?
As an owner of a condo in Boardwalk, this is what I’ve been waiting for. What could be better than a cup of fresh brewed Starbucks coffee and a Krispy Kreme donut in the morning? Oh, come on now. Go for it - your on vacation! Ok, so maybe your not in to donuts. Well, Chef Danny can make a mean pizza, or better yet, a fresh omelet with a heavenly hash.
If you haven’t already made your way down to the Corner Market, it’s located on the boardwalk level on the west side of the building. It’s well worth the trip!

Whisper Dunes Construction Update

Beazer Homes has been diligently working on their newest community, Whisper Dunes. We have been notified that the town home models at the beginning of the community are almost complete. Additionally, the villa models should begin construction shortly and will hopefully be completed by the end of this month or beginning of September.

Bodybuilding Event at Panama City Civic Center

This Saturday, the Panama City Marina Civic Center will be hosting an eight division event for the Southern USA Bodybuilding Championship. According to Info Fitness, the weigh-ins are today between 4:00pm and 7:00pm at Sterling Reef Condominiums in Panama City Beach. Prejudging will begin tomorrow at 10:00am and the actual show will start at 5:30pm.
More than 40 registrations have been signed and 50 more on the way. Price of admission for one show is $60 and $90 for two.
